Louisana native Lil Boosie, real name Torrence Hatch feels he should be subjected to rehab instead of a prison term.

Lil Boosie has a had a fair amount of trouble with the law in the past few months. Since he was arrested and convicted for his third offense for possession of marijuana he then violated his house arrest and was ordered to serve a two year prison term.

Boosie Bad Azz feels he is being so harshly judged because of his rap alter ego and on who he really is, Torrence Hatch.

“If I made a mistake with marijuana, why am I not eligible for rehab?” Boosie questioned. “I’ve been on marijuana since a teenager. I need some rehab. Jail is not rehab.”

“They’re treating me on who they think I am. They judging me on Boosie Bad Azz, not Torrence Hatch,Boosie stated to Louisiana’s WAFB Channel 9 before starting his sentence. “I had to do these two shows these last two days to feed my family.”

Lil Boosie is currently in custody at Winn Correctional Center in Louisiana, serving his term. Once he is released he will also have to complete five years of probation.

Water On The Moon!!!

November 14, 2009

In October, NASA crashed a two-ton rocket and the SUV-size LCROSS (Lunar Crater Observation and Sensing Satellite) into the permanently shadowed crater Cabeus on the moon’s south pole.

The crashes were part of an effort to kick up evidence of water on the moon (picture).

(Read more on the LCROSS mission’s moon target.)

Despite disappointing many amateur astronomers on Earth, who had been expecting to see a giant plume of lunar dust and ice crystals, the moon-water mission was a success, NASA says. (See NASA ‘Moon Bombing’ a Hit, But LCROSS Impact Invisible?”)

The LCROSS team took the known near-infrared light signature of water and compared it to the impact spectra LCROSS near-infrared recorded after the probe had sent its spent rocket crashing into the moon.

A spectrometer helps identify the composition of materials by examining which wavelengths of light they emit or absorb.

“We got good fits” for the data graphs, said Anthony Colaprete, LCROSS’s principal investigator, at today’s press conference at the NASA Ames Research Center in Moffett Field, California.

“We could not put other compounds [in] and generate the same fit.”

Water on the Moon—Buckets of It

Additional evidence of water on the moon came from LCROSS’s ultraviolet spectrometer, which detected energy signatures associated with hydroxyl, a byproduct of the breakup of water by sunlight.

The amount of moon water kicked up by the LCROSS crashes could fill about a dozen 2-gallon (7.6-liter) buckets, said Colaprete, adding that this is just a conservative estimate.

“Not Your Father’s Moon,” Water Discovery Suggests

The confirmation of water on the moon raises the possibility that humans may one day be able to extract drinking water or breathable oxygen as well as the raw ingredients for rocket fuel from moon rocks, Michael Wargo, chief lunar scientist for Exploration Systems at NASA headquarters in Washington, D.C., said at the conference.

(Read more about moon exploration.)

Samples of water on the moon might also help shed light on the early history and evolution of the solar system, said physicist Greg Delory, a senior fellow at the Space Sciences Laboratory and Center for Integrative Planetary Sciences at the University of California, Berkeley.

“This is not your father’s moon,” Delory said at the conference.

“Rather than a dead and unchanging world, it could be a very dynamic and interesting one.”

Gucci Mane Back In Jail

November 14, 2009

Atlanta-based rapper Gucci Mane was returned to jail Thursday for violating his probation.

The rapper, whose real name is Radric Davis, is currently at the Fulton County jail and is due to be released in May 2010, according to jail officials.

It is unclear how Davis violated his probation.

Signed to Warner Bros. Records in May 2009, Davis was set to release his third album, The State vs. Radric Davis on Dec. 8.

Davis pleaded guilty to assault in 2005 hitting a nightclub promoter in the head with a pool cue, and last September, he was sentenced to a year in jail for failing to fulfill his court-ordered 600 hours of community service in that case.

He went to jail and served until March, when MTV reported he went straight to the studio and recorded five songs.

According to reports, Davis was born in Birmingham, Alabama and raised in Atlanta after moving here in the fourth grade.

Davis has received industry notoriety from mixtape singles.

In May 2005, he released his debut album, Trap House, in May 2005 independently. It included the largely popular “Icy” single, featuring rapper Young Jeezy. In 2007 he released Back to Trap House Music.

His most recent single, “Spotlight,” features another well-known Atlantan, Usher, who whose divorce from his wife Tameka Foster Raymond was made final earlier this month.

Katt Williams and his attorney may have some further explaining to do after a 911 call was released Tuesday in which a 17-year-old boy claims the comedian is holding him against his will at a home in Coweta County.

During the call, which took place around around 9 p.m. on Nov. 3, the boy tells the dispatcher that he has a car waiting to take him to the airport, but Williams “wouldn’t let our ride take us there” and “threatened to beat me up.” The caller also said he wasn’t sure if Williams had a weapon.

The 911 call surfaced less than 24 hours after Williams was released from jail on $40,000 bond after being arrested Sunday night on charges of burglary and criminal trespassing. He is accused of breaking into a rural Georgia home with a crowbar.

The comic’s attorney, William Briggs, told CNN that the arrest was a misunderstanding, explaining that Williams was a guest at the home, which is owned by record producer Barry Hankerson. Briggs said Williams has been living there for nearly a month while filming a movie produced by Hankerson.

Police say Williams, whose real name is Micah S. Katt Williams, made off with $3,500 in jewelry and collectible coins.

“Mr. Williams wears more than that in jewelry on his person,” Briggs told CNN of the charges

Back in September, Louisiana rapper Lil Boosie was sentenced to two years behind bars after pleading guilty to drug and weapons possession charges.

The 26 year-old rapper, real name Torrence Hatch copped a plea deal to avoid trial. And was sentenced to two years in prison.

Boosie was back in court Monday (November 9th) to receive his final sentence, which was to be set as a 10 month bid in prision, if he followed all the terms of his supervised probation.

Boosie had been on house arrest with an ankle monitor. The monitor indicated that on more than one occasion, he had violated the terms of his release. District Court Judge Chip Moore revoked the probation, and sent Boosie straight to jail.

Judge Moore, with no questions asked, doubled Boosie‘s original sentence of two years, and ordered him to spend the next four in prison.

Lil Boosie is scheduled to finalize his prison bid in 2013.
